TA Truck Service Shows More: Expertise at State Technician Competitions in 2017

TravelCenters of America LLC (TravelCenters) operator of the TA® and Petro Stopping Centers® travel center brands, is recognizing the TA Truck Service technicians who have shown off their skills at various 2017 state diesel technician championships across the country in preparation for both the TA Truck Service Top Tech Challenge in-house competition taking place in Lodi, Ohio on Aug. 1-2 and the TMCSuperTech national commercial vehicle technician championship, taking place in Orlando, Florida on Sept. 16-21.

Approximately 100 TA Truck Service technicians from nearly all of the 140 TA Truck Service facilities in the 17 states where these competitions were held participated in March through July.

Individual state events include a written test and a variety of hands on station challenges in specific technical areas including drive train, wheel end, information systems, engine diagnostics, tire and wheel, fasteners, electrical, HVAC, brakes, chassis, DOT inspection and preventative maintenance.

TA Truck Service technicians placed top three overall in ten states and took first place at 35 individual stations.

Special congratulations go out to William Andazola, who earned Grand Champion at the New Mexico state competition and Joseph Anderson, who earned Grand Champion at the Georgia state competition – a competition where a TA Truck Service technician has won grand champion for five consecutive years. They will be part of the team representing TA Truck Service at the National TMCSuperTech competition this September.

Bo Logan, who won student grand champion at the IMTA Technician Championship in Indiana, will also represent TA Truck Service in Orlando in the affiliated TMCFutureTech national student technician competition.

The remainder of the TA Truck Service TMCSuperTech team, which is made up of ASE Master Technicians, will include any TMCSuperTech station winner from the prior year’s competition and the top scoring technicians from the upcoming Top Tech Challenge competition.

"We couldn’t be more proud of our technicians who competed in this year’s state competitions. Our customers expect only the best when it comes to our technical services, and we work hard every day to make that happen. TA technicians study hard, train hard and work hard as a team to bring truck drivers more every day. The results of these competitions highlight our technicians’ hard work and dedication," shared Tom O'Brien, President and CEO of TravelCenters.

TA Truck Service centers are consistently Voted Best in annual independent driver surveys* for Best Overall Maintenance Shops, Most Competent Technicians, Best PM and Lubrication Services and Best Roadside Assistance.

*Results based on TA and Petro independent surveys of Overdrive magazine readers.
