TA Brookville Team Member Helps Stranded Motorist
Ben Carnahan is a healthcare worker who drives the same route to work every day, and he knows the route well. On his way to work one day, he planned to stop at TA Brookville in Pennsylvania for some gas. When pulled up to the pump, he realized that he had left his wallet at home, and he did not have enough gas to get back home nor to work. Ben was stranded. He decided to go inside and explain to the clerk, Tina Dinger, what had happened. Without hesitation, Tina offered to lend Ben $10 for gas.
Ben stopped in to see Tina the next time he needed gas on his way to work. He paid her back, and thanked her “for going above and beyond during a stressful time.”
“This gentleman clearly needed to get to work, and I thought I’d help him out. That’s just the type of person I am and that’s what my teammates do too. It’s all about being a Daymaker,” said Tina. “Being empathetic and having integrity are important values for everyone at TA to have. Our guests need us and rely on us to get to their next destination.”
When we spoke with Ben to let him know we were going to share his story, he asked if we could add this from him: “Americans are politically divided. We are also in the middle of a global pandemic that has negatively affected countless lives. The silver lining here is that you can still find kindness and common decency in a complete stranger.”
