Fuel Customer Service Representative Uses EMT and Firefighter Skills to Aid Community

Monique Monroe, Fuel Customer Service Representative at TA Mill City, NV (site 181) has been with us 10 years and can be called a life saver. She is a volunteer EMT and firefighter in a remote area and she is often a first responder for people who need assistance. Dawn Lehmkuhl, Site GM, says, “During times of crisis, Monique keeps a level head and jumps into action no matter what is needed.”

Monique was surprised to hear that Dawn thinks she’s extraordinary. Monique is just doing what has become second nature to her. She has been a first responder for 28 ½ years for Pershing County, and also responds to emergencies in Humboldt County.

She always has her medical “go bag” with her and is ready day or night when needed. Interestingly, Monique and her husband were dating when they both became first responders. Her husband is now a fire chief, and their daughter and son-in-law are volunteer responders. The entire family cares about the welfare of others.
