Conventional Oil versus Full Synthetics Oil
While all engine oils come from the ground, the differences between conventional and full synthetics are huge. It can be difficult to decide which option is right for you, but with some basic knowledge you can be confident in your selection.
When judging oil, the three areas most commonly considered are engine wear protection, drain intervals and price. Conventional oil is easily the most affordable, but full synthetics and semi synthetics offer their own unique advantages.
Although they’re more expensive, synthetics perform well with engine protection because they have highly refined uniform molecules. Their additives break down much slower, which extends oil drain intervals. In fact, it is common to see four times the mileage between oil changes when switching to synthetic.
Blended oils play the middle ground. Compared to conventional oil, blended oils offer better engine protection, somewhat extended drain intervals and come in at a more affordable price than full synthetic.
When selecting blended oil, stick only to brands with good reputations. There are many inconsistencies with quality, if you venture out into the off brands.
So before you schedule your next oil change at a TA Truck Service facility, consider these factors. Although choosing the correct oil can be difficult, it’s important to choose well, because oil is the life blood of your engine.
